Throughout the house, there are going to be different rooms that serve as a place to do certain activities. Each of these rooms are going to need to be lit and in a way that allows the perfect amount of light. When deciding on new lighting fixtures in your home, keep these different types in mind.

Wall Sconces
If you’re looking for a source of indirect light, sconce lighting is the perfect option. Being attached to the wall will allow for a majority of the light to expel onto the wall. The fixtures come in a variety of materials, shapes, and sizes for your specific needs. A common place for these light fixtures are on each side of the bed in a master bedroom or in a living room.

Table & Floor Lamps
These lamps are an easy and effective way to add lighting to bedrooms and smaller living rooms. When selecting the style of lamp, place an emphasis on the shade. The shade has the important job of deciding how much light is seen. Some shades will allow more light to bleed through than others would.

Track Lighting
For a more modern look, you can add a series of lights that are attached to the ceiling via a metal track. With track lighting, you can move and point the lights in whichever direction you choose. Common places for track lighting are in a square shape above a bed, or in a line above a bookshelf.

Candles
If you’re looking for lighting that will set a relaxing and mellow mood, candles are a primetime choice. They will offer dimly lit lights that will work well while the main lighting for that room is turned off. Battery powered candles are available so you can reduce the risk of fire and lowering your air quality.

There are many different types of lighting you can utilize in each room of your home. The only thing more important than lighting is the electrical system that is needed to power them.
