Having dust in your home is a sign of poor indoor air quality. An easy way to get rid of dust is by vacuuming the floors and dusting the remainder of the house. However, it’s important that you dust before you vacuum. Doing so in this order will allow you to suck up any dust that settles onto the floor after you’ve dusted. Doing the opposite would leave a remaining layer of dust in your home.
In general, smoking cigarettes is a big no-no, but smoking them inside is even worse. Not only will you expose everyone else to secondhand smoke, the smoke and chemicals released will stick to the walls, furniture, linens, etc. Even if you do go outside to smoke, make sure you are several feet away from the house. This goes for cigars and any other type of smoking products as well.
Lack of Maintenance
Not doing anything can also hurt your home’s air quality. At least twice per year your HVAC system should be serviced. Once in the spring for your AC unit and once in the fall for your heating system. These systems should be inspected, cleaned, and any malfunctioning parts should be repaired. Refusing to do so could result in an HVAC system that breaks down more frequently and one that will eventually need to be replaced a lot sooner than it should.
