Home Heating Safety Tips

According to the National Fire Protection Association, most home heating fires occur in December, January and February. At Lancaster Plumbing Heating and Cooling, your safety is our main concern. As you use your home heating system this winter, we urge you to use caution while doing so. Below are some tips to keep you and your loved ones safe and warm.

  • Make sure that your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are working properly. Replace the batteries every 6 months or as needed.
  • Your home heating equipment should be at least 3 feet away from flammable materials.
  • Don’t use your oven to heat your home.
  • Put a sturdy cover on your fireplace. This will help deflect sparks from flying into the room.
  • Be sure to turn off space heaters before leaving the house or going to sleep.

We know that the “Do-It-Yourself” movement has been catching on like wildfire. However, when it comes to installing a new furnace or heat pump, don’t DIY. Some jobs are best left to the professionals. Call 717-207-8198 for all your heating needs.
